Butterfly Diagram of Circular Buildings
Circular design principles for buildings based on EMF's "butterfly diagram" of the circular economy. The diagram distinguishes between the technosphere of products and the biosphere of natural materials. While resources or matter is cascaded in the biosphere, materials and products or their components are circulated in the technosphere to achieve the least quality loss and retain value, labour, embodied environmental impact (emissions, energy, etc.) by “looping” in the smallest possible cycle.
