The (B-V) color vs. effective temperature sequence for main sequence (dwarf) stars of approximately solar composition. Data points are adopted averages for spectral subtypes from Table 6 of Pecaut & Mamajek (2013, ApJS, 208, 9). The 4th order polynomial fit provides a reasonable fit between spectral types B9V and M0V (-0.07 < B-V < 1.43) with rms scatter 0.003 dex to the Pecaut & Mamajek B-V/Teff sequence. The Pecaut & Mamajek (2013) dwarf color/Teff sequence provided a subtype-by-subtype assessment of the mean properties of dwarf stars with compositions similar to that of the Sun. Notes on the adopted Teffs and B-V colors for a given subtype can be examined at: http://www.pas.rochester.edu/~emamajek/spt/.
