To
understand the effect of sugar concentration on behaviour of nectarivorous birds at sugar water feeders we recruited 17 volunteer gardens with no previous
feeding history in Auckland, New Zealand. We installed Tui Nectar Feeders™ in each garden and randomly assigned either 10 or 20% sugar concentration to each garden. In winter 2020, twelve gardens attracted birds to feeders and there we conducted a series of direct behavioural observations. This dataset is the summary of all the records of observed sugar water feeder-associated bird behaviour in experimental gardens.
