'B', 'L', 'M', 'V' indicate a categorical variable with four levels representing different vegetation types. 'te', 'ph', 'sw' indicate the heterogeneity of soil temperature, soil pH and soil water content; 'so', 'nn', 'pp', 'tk', 'nag', 'gc', 'np', 'xys', 'ba', 'fa', 'pc' indicate the heterogeneity of soil organic matter, soil nitrogen, phosphorus contents, potassium contents, N-acetyl-β-Glucosaminidase, β-Glucosidase, β-Xylosidase,  neutral phosphatase, bacterial copies, fungal copies and antagonistic indicator; 'tn', 'no', 'nh', 'tp', 'avp', 'ad', 'ap', 'ar' indicate the heterogeneity of soil total nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen, ammonia nitrogen, total phosphorus, available phosphorus, antagonistic density, antagonistic proportion and antagonistic intensity; 'fun' indicate β-multifunctionality; 'na', 'nd', 'mb' indicate the turnover of nutrient availability,  nutrient decomposition and microbial biomass; 'babb', 'fubb', 'prbb', 'mebb' indicate the the bacterial, fungal, protozoan and metazoan β-diversity according to the Sørensen distance; 'babb1', 'fubb1', 'prbb1', 'mebb1' indicate the the bacterial, fungal, protozoan and metazoan β-diversity according to the  Bray-Curtis distance.
