Two pivotal research trips to Greenland in 2012 and 2015 extended Neudecker’s ongoing research into how the legacy of the Romantic Sublime and limited visual representations shape our perceptions of the Arctic regions. Questioning notions of wilderness in the context of current environmental and geopolitical realities this collection generates new perspectives on the Contemporary Sublime.

This item contains 6 exhibition views, an image of the Halley Research Station and a contextual outline of Some Things Happen All At Once 2016 by Neudecker.

This item documents the exhibition of Some Things Happen All At Once as part of Antarctopia at the Antarctic Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale in Italy 2014. The exhibition brought together 13 artists and architects to explore present and future models of living with Antarctica. Some Things Happen All At Once was a newly developed tank-piece for Antarctic Pavilion. It is a 3D computer generated scale-model of ‘Halley VI Antarctic Research Station’ and is submerged in a cloudy, re-created Antarctic landscape. This tank work signified a shift of source material from ‘imaginary worlds’ to one that is remote, but physically real.

The exhibition was curated by Nadim Sammam.
