1. Global ground-based GWR estimates allocated to the 0.5º by 0.5º grid cells of WaterGAP, including 64 estimates from karst studies and the rest for non-karst areas.

2. The six major datasets used for compiling the ground-based GWR estimates dataset, including (1) MacDonald et al. (2021), (2) Moeck et al. (2020), (3) Mohan et al. (2018), (4) Döll & Fiedler (2008), (5) Scanlon et al. (2006), (6) Hartmann et al. (2015). The comparison of the respective datasets is found in Table 1 in our paper.

3. The updated global 0.5° cell GWR, karstification fraction, relief-, soil texture-, hydrogeology-, and permafrost/glacier-related factors, and GWR per grid cell for two different climate inputs: GSWP3-W5E5 and GSWP3-ERA5.
