Pseudomonas synxantha BG33R Genome sequencing and assembly

bacterial cells grown in pure culture. Pseudomonas sp. strain BG33 was isolated from the rhizosphere of a peach tree in an orchard near Elgin, South Carolina, USA (Kluepfel et al. 1993. Phytopathology 83:1250-1245). The strain suppresses the ring nematode Mesocriconema xenoplax, a major factor predisposing peach trees to the Peach Tree Short Life (PTSL) syndrome (Westcott and Kluepfel. 1993. Phytopathology 83:1245-1249). The sequenced strain BG33R is a spontaneous mutant of BG33 with resistance to rifampicin.
