bacterial cells grown in pure culture. P. chlororaphis strain 30-84 was isolated from a root of wheat grown in Kansas, USA, and is known to suppress the plant disease take-all of wheat caused by the root-infecting fungus Gaeumannomyces graminis var. tritici (PMID:1325219). P. chlororaphis 30-84 produces phenazine antibiotics, is a valuable model strain in studies on quorum sensing and communication among bacteria in natural habitats (PMID:20352425, 18944379).
