These are video examples referenced in the article. The first two demonstrate the structural difference between two sentences of American Sign Language that differ only in one handshape (see Figure 1). The remaining three videos are complete responses to carefully controlled nonverbal stimuli produced by a child homesigner who has not acquired a conventional language (see Figure 6).
