Data sets associated with the manuscript "

Moonlight and predation risk: does vegetation cover mediate the behaviour of small mammals and their predators?" submitted to Scientific Reports.  There are nime data sets, each corresponding to one species.  The name of each data set contains the species name.  All data sets have 10 columns:

1: site = site id (values vary with species)

2: camera = camera id (cameras were located at the 50 or 150 m mark of a 200 m transect at each site)

3: trap.day = the camera trap deployment day - usually 1-30, but sometimes fewer if cameras failed

4: species response (colums in different data sets are given three character species codes like bur, yfa - see file name for full species name) = values represent the number of times each species was detected during the night

5: response = proportional species response, calculated as species response (see previous) / night.hours (see next).

6: night.hours = the number of complete night time hours.  Night time is defined as after sunset and before sunrise.

7: moon = moon illumination index

8: understorey = understorey cover index

9: season = sampling season 1 or season 2

10: cloud = cloud cover index

Note that columns 7, 8 and 10 are scaled using the scale function in R
