Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a complex condition which the phenotype and outcome were determined by both genetic factors and environmental influences. Until now, at least 20 genetic single nucleotide variants (SNPs) were associated with NAFLD.
MBOAT7 rs641738 was a recently discovered important locus and proved to be associated with increased liver fat content, inflammation and fibrosis. But the association was only found in European descendants. We carried out a case control study in Chinese elder subjects in order to further elucidate the significance of MBOAT7 rs641738 for NAFLD.
