This dataset supports the research titled “Estimation of Confined Compaction Curve (CCC) Parametersthrough Soil Spectral Signatures and Pedotransfer Functions.”
In this study, 130 soil samples (both disturbed and undisturbed) were collected from five provinces in Iran to estimate the compression index (Cc) and swelling index (Cs) through pedotransfer functions (PTFs) based on soil spectral characteristics and selected physico-chemical properties.
The dataset includes:
· Measured physical and mechanical soil properties (e.g., bulk density, total porosity, organic matter content)
· Spectral reflectance data in the VIS-NIR range, obtained using a spectroradiometer
· Spectral datasets processed using methods such as Multiplicative Scatter Correction (MSC), first and second derivatives with Savitzky-Golay filtering (FD-SG1 and FD-SG2), and Standard Normal Variate (SNV)
· A clear split of data into training (90 samples) and testing (40 samples) subsets
A total of 11 pedotransfer functions were developed through various statistical approaches in three stages, each with different combinations of input variables. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) was also performed, highlighting the importance of wavelengths at 804, 1000, 1337, and 2137 nm in explaining the variation in CCC parameters.
The data files are available in CSV and XLSX formats and can be used for replication studies, meta-analyses, or further development of predictive models for soil mechanical properties.
