Tomb towers rank second (only lagging behind mosques) in Iran based on the number of the remaining constructs, playing a multifaceted role in the architecture of this country. Thus, exploring the different aspects of their origin, emergence and development is of paramount importance and leads to a deeper understanding of the Iranian architecture regarding the construction of tombs. The present study aimed at investigating tomb towers in Samiran and Kharaqan districts from historical, geographical, architectural and geometrical perspectives by means of studying their commonalities and distinctions. In so doing, the authors applied library and field study research to comparatively examine Samiran and Kharaqan tomb towers. Based on the data gathered and through the reanalysis and identification of Iranian-Islamic arches, they managed to digitally reconstruct the towers, concluding that both towers enjoyed common historical- ethnic roots with similar structures and geometrical golden ratios. In addition, historical and geographical investigations of the developmental trend in Kharaqan towers revealed that their design was generally influenced by the design, plans, forms and proportions of Samiran towers.
