BF simulations were carried out under a set of “standard conditions” except for variations in the parameter of interest as indicated. Panels (A), (B) and (C) illustrate the effects of variations in N, E and B. Standard simulation parameter values are the same as the best-fit values for yeast Chromosome XV (Table 2). Parameter (E) is the standard deviation of the average inter-precursor distance and the corresponding evenness level is also shown by the shape (ν) of gamma distribution in the program output. For E = 0, 0.6 and 0.7, the corresponding ν = 1, 2.4 and 4.2, respectively. Parameter (B) is set by using the binomial distribution, in which with an average number of precursors on each bivalent (a constant mean), the distribution of the number of precursors among bivalents (probability of success for each trial) can be adjusted by changing the number of the trials.
