Panels A and B show time-dependent leptin-induced increases in Stat1 phosphorylation in the absence or presence of the Stat inhibitory peptide (SIP), respectively. Panel C shows complete inhibition of leptin-induced Stat1 phosphorylation by fludarabine although the increased Stat3 phosphorylation was unaffected (panel D). As shown in the inset (panel E) fludarabine had no effect on leptin-induced mPTP opening. Values indicate mean + SEM, N = 5. *P<0.05 from control (Ctl).
