Induction of PXR-, FXR- and VDR-specific target genes by PCN and LCA.

Quadruplicate cultures of primary rat hepatocytes were exposed to varying concentrations of PCN or LCA for 48 hours. RNA was extracted and target gene expression measured at the transcript level using TaqMan Q-PCR. Target genes represent those specifically activated by PXR (A), VDR (B) and FXR (C). Statistical analysis against vehicle control was determined via one-way ANOVA; * = p<0.01, ** = p<0.05 and *** = p<0.001.
