a) Microscopic image of EPCs (200×). After 7 days of isolation, two different types of EPCs were found with most being spindle-shaped cells and a few presenting as polymorph cells. b) Incorporation of Dil-Ac-LDL (1) and binding of FITC-UEA-1 (2) were detected with a confocal microscope. The merged image (3) represents Dil-Ac-LDL+FITC-UEA-1+ cells. Dual-positive stained cells were identified as EPCs. c) Flow cytometric analysis of the cell surface markers indicated the expression profile of EPCs included CD34 (97.4%), KDR (98.2%) and CD133 (94.8%) cells.
