Center: HR23 growing on 4FTrp displayed inhibition rings around wells containing Trp, 5FTrp or 6FTrp. Bottom: absence of inhibition rings indicated lack of extensive inhibition by 4FTrp, 5FTrp or 6FTrp against LC88 propagating on Trp.
