A frequently observed problem in undergraduate teaching spaces is the gap between assumed and actual knowledge. This is most evident in computer based practice classes where undergraduates are expected to have an inherent understanding of computers. While it is true that the current generation of undergraduates are the most technology-literate, this does not extent to software programs which always require learning from scratch. The learning of software may be quickened with prior knowledge of similar software but this learning curve cannot be eliminated. Even the simplest video games provide tutorials.

This work was done to assist with learning in Swansea University's Geography Department.
