YENNENGA LIVE BRIEF - WIL / SPAIN
Yennenga, a non for profit org (NGO) with a central focus on education and health improving communities in Africa. Stina Berge is the client.
The project (s):
Nakamtenga, Burkina Faso-The Good Village
The students will need to be taking into account UN's 17 new development goals where responsibility for creating global sustainable development lies with all actors, society, business, government and state.
-Welfare society in micro format
The Design Component we will be completing:
Education- spaces needing to be designed: Elementary school, higher education, vocational education, research and course activities.
Health- spaces needing to be designed: Preventative health, medical Care, reproductive Health, Psychology and Law.
Branded Fashion- develop uniforms for students and staff at the school and for the health department
Comm Design: Visual identity required for the above sectors.
Challenges: Limited building materials, Multilingualism and little access to learning materials
The Primary school has been completed- tech drawings will be forwarded as soon as possible.
Landscape: very flat and few trees- topography map needs to be recreated
from google map/earth. Johan from the organisation will forward us
videos of the area in the next week.
There are 25 children per class and elementary lasts for 4 years, high school is 3 years. So approx 7*25 children needs to be accommodated for.
Hospital: Please read the summary of the Dr Mukwege Center - they will advise of amount of staff who needs to be accommodated at the centre in the next few days. Building material: Laterite stone is being used due to lack of wood.
Yennenga's symbol represents princess Yennenga riding across the soil and earth of Burkina Faso. The NGO organization is named after the legend of the West African princess Yennenga.
