How often have we read a story in a newspaper, and despaired over a lack of data to back it up?  The availability and accessibility of data, software and other research outputs is fundamental to good research, yet many barriers still exist. And, whilst open data is moving us forward, we risk being stalled by our software. This talk calls out these issues and silos, and examines how we have to change our attitudes to ‘shame’ if research is to survive public criticism.

Presented at the Alan Turing Institute Symposium on Reproducibility for Data-Intensive Research.
