The Use of “Kahoot” in Teaching Maritime English: A Case Study

It is undebatable the development of technology which has entered the Industrial Revolution 4.0 influence human life including Education. The lecturer cannot teach in conventional way to the students. English is always a hard thing to learn especially for English as a Foreign Language students. This research attempts to know the implementation of online learning media named Kahoot in teaching Maritime English at Akademi Maritim Nusantara-Cilacap. Kahoot is a game-based online learning platform. It was created by 3 (three) entrepreneurs, those are Johan Brand, Jamie Brooker, and Morten Versvik. The principles of Kahoot are Social, Play, and Learning. The researcher used Kahoot to teach Standard Marine Communication Phrase (SMCP). There were 20 multiple choice questions given by the researcher. Those questions must be answered quickly. The result showed that Kahoot can be used in teaching SMCP.
