This thesis addresses the pre-migration, settlement and post-settlement lives of South Sudanese Australian women. It examines how they survived a gendered, genocidal civil war in Sudan (1983-2005) and the forced migration that led to settlement in Australia. The thesis concludes by addressing these women's post-settlement lives and the ways in which they have developed a sense of belonging in Australia.
