In plot-00.pdf we show the critically resolved shear stress (CRSS) of a 10 nm wide nickel nano-particle compressed using a 100 GPa (soft) and a 500 GPa (hard) indenter plotted as a function of the particle's roundness. From the plot it is clear that as the roundness of the particle increases the strength also increases. The figure "plot-01.pdf" has a similar interpretation, however, in this case the nickel nano-particle is 20 nm wide. Finally figure "plot-03.pdf" shows the CRSS of many nano-particles plotted as a function of particle diameter (nm) with comparison to experimental data. For all plots the data (aside from the experimental data) was generated using molecular dynamics simulations carried out using the LAMMPS simulation software with the atomic interactions modeled using an embedded atom method potential.
