In this presentation, designed for early-career researchers, I review the current status of Open Access publication, advances in semantic publishing, the importance of open citations, the problem of publishers who do not open their article reference lists, the success of the Initiative for Open Citations, and the OpenCitations Corpus and SPAR (Semantic Publishing and Referencing) Ontologies.
