ABSTRACT Studies of anatomy and technological research are needed for Cedrela odorata and Cedrelinga cateniformis species, since they are widely used in the furniture sector of Cruzeiro do Sul - Acre, Brazil. Thus, to enable the appropriate use of these wood species in the furniture industry, this study aimed to evaluate their physical and anatomical characteristics. Assays were performed to determine the basic density, dimensional variation and macroscopic description timber. The species were classified as lightweight and with excellent anisotropic and swelling factors, characteristics indicated for production of furniture as shelves, tables and cabinets.
