Original description:<br>p. 6.: "P. longicornis, n. sp. — Гань-су: Хей-хо. 21. VII. 1885. (Г. Н. Потанинъ). — 3 ♂"<br><br>pp. 42-43: "49. Pachyprotasis longicornis. <br>♂. Pallide testacea, fere albido-citrina (interdum albido-virescens), nigro-variegata, subtilissime breviterque pubescens, levissime sparsim punctata, nitida. Capite fronte albido-pubescenti, mandibularum apice brunneo, macula occipitali magna nigra; palporum articulis ultimis apicem versus nigricantibus ; clypeo minus quam in P. Rapae L. emarginato; occipite sublaevi. punctis nonnullis sparsis tecto; antennis longis, longitudinem corporis superantibus, ferrugineis, supra anguste nigris. Thorace subtus pallide testaceo vel flavido; lobis medianis et lateralibus mesonoti nigro-variegatis, scutello, postscutello, tegulis carinisque metathoracis citrinis. Pedibus pallide testaceis, apicem versus obscurioribus, linea angusta externa nigra, tibiarum tarsorumque posteriorum apice nigro-annulato. Alis- longis, anticis costa citrina, apicem versus brunnea, stigmate citrino, ceteris nervis nigris in parte basali dilutioribus; cellula lanceolata medio contracta. Abdomine subtus pallide testaceo vel flavido; supra nigro, singulis segmentis late citrino-marginatis. <br>Long. 8 mm. Exp. alar. 17½ mm.<br>Chinae prov. Gan-ssu. 3 specimina (♂) a cl. G. Peterburg 26[1892]: 1-62 (Separatum). <br><br>Photos were taken in 2014 at the ZIRAS (Zoological Institute Russian Academy of Sciences, St Petersburg) through the ocular tube of a no-name binocular stereo microscope with a simple Tucsen ISH500 camera (5 megapixel). Some figures are composite images, based on 3–5 single shots, calculated using the software CombineZP. The plate is finally arranged and partly enhanced with Ulead PhotoImpact X3.
