Managing Research Software Development: Better Software, Better Research

Research in most domains relies on software, but many researchers have not had experience in managing software projects, and many institutions are only recently providing infrastructure and support for software development. This talk will highlight recent best practice and efforts to improve the development and maintenance of software used in research, including Software Management Plans and what we can learn from the Open Source Software community.
