Its importance lies in its application, as well as impact, in galaxy formation and evolution studies. We use young stellar clusters in the Local Group to test the Modified Lognormal Power-law Probability distribution recently proposed in Basu et al. 2015. We compare this distribution with the most commonly used functional forms describing the initial mass function in stellar populations analyses (Madaan et al.).
