An invited talk to be given at the Kellogg Biological Station (MSU). There are three parts to this talk that capture some of my primary research interests. These include predicting microbial biodiversity through the discovery of scaling laws, the development of biodiversity theory for microorganisms, and the study of molecular constraints on microbial biodiversity and how we measure it.
