Identification, Characterization and Function of Olfactory Marker Protein in the Zebrafish Brain
thesis
posted on 2017-11-12, 23:03 authored by SALMI AB AZIZThe work presented in this thesis identified a novel isoform of Olfactory marker protein (OMP2) in the brain of zebrafish, which contains 1928 nucleotides. The OMP2 was expressed in neurons in multiple brain regions and was co-localized with gonadotropin-releasing hormone 3 (GnRH3) in the preoptic area (POA). There was a significant decrease in omp2 and gnrh3 mRNA expression levels in the OMP2-knockdown compared to controls. These findings suggest that this new isoform of OMP (OMP2), expressed in neurons, might be involved in reproduction in the zebrafish.
