Happiness as a therapeutic quest: The problem of suffering

thesis
posted on 2018-07-12, 05:24 authored by NICHOLAS JOHN HILL
This thesis explores the effects of the promotion of evidence based practices purported to increase happiness and wellbeing on people's self-understanding. It explores how the experience of suffering and anxiety frame people's pursuit of happiness. The research finds that people turn to happiness and wellbeing practices in an attempt to secure a happier future but the practices themselves generate new risks and responsibilities that may prevent the achievement of happiness.
