Granular mixing is an important research area and has a wide range of applications. However, the current simulation method (discrete element method) has a sever limitation in computational efficiency. To overcome the problem, this thesis aims to propose a continuum model of granular mixing based on the Eulerian FEM approach and apply the model to study various mixing phenomena in mixers such as rotating drums and high shear mixers.
