A representative example of a colony initiated by a mixed inoculation of sfl1 (Flo11+) and flo8 (Flo11-) cells from different clones. Inoculations of this type were always 250 Flo11- and 250 Flo11+ cells (fourth column in Figure 3b) in the center of semisolid complex medium plates (9 cm diameter, 0.3% agar, YPD), which were grown for seven days at room temperature.
