F.F. Bosworth and R.A. Torrey on The Lord's Supper: Two Opposing Views
This blog post presents an overview of the teachings of F.F. Bosworth and R.A. Torrey on The Lord’s Supper. Bosworth believed the bread serves to remind the church of bodily healing in the atonement and the wine is a reminder of Christ’s blood that was shed for the forgiveness of sin. Torrey, who believed in divine healing in the atonement, strongly disagreed with Bosworth’s view. Torrey’s view is shared in his book, Divine Healing: Does God Perform Miracles Today? (Fleming H. Revell, 1924).
