A rapid assessment of ecological and social conditions, as well as marine resource use took place in October 2014 in the Southwest Maluku District located in the southern most part of the Coral Triangle. It was designed to collect primary data using a combination of methods and secondary data from government and other sources. The main parameters measured were: (1) ecological integrity, (2) human well-being, and (3) the pattern of utilization and management of marine resources.
