DeCaluwe_TMS_2020_SEI Diagnostics

Presentation to the 2020 TMS Conference, detailed the direct, operando observation of the SEI grown on a non-intercalating tungsten anode. Neutron scattering and quartz crystal microbalance measurements identify a two-layer SEI with thin, dense, inorganic inner layer (close to the anode), and an thicker, porous, organic outer layer (adjacent to the electrode).
