Data science can be used to promote open science though effective use of R. Communication of code, workflows, and data science insights are fundamental processes associated with open science. Tidy data science as described in the book 'R for Data Science' by Garrett Grolemund & Hadley Wickham is an excellent example of open science through thoughtful, transparent data science.<div><br></div><div>A more complex version of this Venn could include the following constituent elements within each circle.</div><div><br></div><div>Data science: consistent code, open code, annotation, independent models, visualization, transparent EDA</div><div><br></div><div>Open science: data management plans, open data, open scientific products, code, meta-data, workflows</div><div><br></div><div>R is a perfect bridge or union region between these two domains.</div><div><br></div><div><br></div>
