Data from CMIP climate models and an idealized model used in the study on "Sensitivity of the latitude of the westerly jet stream to climate forcing" by Gang Chen, Pengfei Zhang, and Jian Lu. The files are:

cmip_obs.mat
The file consists of DJF and zonal mean climatologies ('*_clim_*') and trends ('*_trend_*') of zonal wind and temperature from CMIP models ('*cmip') and ERA-Interim ('*obs') over the period of 1979-2016. Variables are
't*': temperature
'u*': zonal wind

idealized.mat
This file contains all the simulations produced by the idealized model of the atmosphere, known as atmospheric dynamical core.
Patterns of idealized climate forcings
'oz_heating': idealized ozone heating
'aa_heating': Arctic near surface heating
'eq_heating': tropical heating

Experiments with greens function perturbations
'*_po': greensfunction responses with positive perturbations
'*_ne': greensfunction responses with negative perturbations

Variable names:
'ucomp*','temp*','vcomp*': zonal wind, temperature, and meridional wind

'*_ctl': control simulation
'*_ctl_ovrd': control simulation with overriding zonal mean zonal wind

'*_glb': climate change-like thermal perturbation
'*_glb_ovrd': climate change-like thermal perturbation with overriding zonal mean zonal wind

'lb_*': saved values of individual perturbations of model parameters
'*_sym_aa*': Arctic near surface heating
'*_sym_oz*': idealized ozone heating
'*_eq*': tropical heating
'*_dh*': equator-to-pole temperature gradient
'*_ts*': stratospheric temperature
'*_kz*': surface friction

Pengfei Zhang downloaded the CMIP model and ERA-Interim data and performed the idealized simulations, and Gang Chen conducted the postprocessing.
