This MATLAB code computes the Cramer-Rao lower bound (CRLB) on the decay rate (or lifetime) estimates. It was developed by Dorian Bouchet (dorianf.bouchet@gmail.com) with inputs from Valentina Krachmalnicoff and Ignacio Izeddin. If you use it for your data analysis, thanks for citing the following research article:

D. Bouchet, V. Krachmalnicoff, and I. Izeddin, "Cramér-Rao analysis of lifetime estimations in time-resolved fluorescence microscopy," Opt. Express 27, 21239-21252 (2019)

The main script is "crlb_main.m". It is commented and it includes two examples. The main script calls the functions "crlb_parameters.m" used to properly normalize input parameters, "crlb_coefficients.m" used to compute the exponential decays and their derivatives, and "crlb_fisher.m" used to compute and invert the information matrix. The files "background.mat" and "irf.mat" contain experimentally measured backgound noise and IRF, and can be imported from the main script.
