A study to explore hypertensive disorders of pregnancy among pregnant women in Brunei Darussalam.

This thesis examine pregnant Bruneian women’s knowledge of, attitudes and beliefs towards hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) in Brunei Darussalam and, factors that influence women’s healthcare seeking behaviours (HSB) when they are diagnosed with HDP. The study also explore the perceptions of the maternity healthcare professionals on the care that they women in this group at the maternity healthcare settings. Findings from this study reveals that women’s HSBs are strongly influenced by socio-cultural factors, with knowledge only playing a minor role. Culturally-tailored health prevention strategies related to hypertensive disorders of pregnancy are needed within the maternity healthcare settings of Brunei.
