WriteLatex connects to figshare making a complete cloud based approach to academic publishing

WriteLatex

writeLaTeX is a free service that lets you create, edit & share your scientific ideas easily online using LaTeX, a comprehensive & powerful tool for scientific writing. The site offers you an easy to use two-panel interface. The left pane is used for editing text; the preview of your text is updated in the right pane. Over the weekend, the team at Write LaTeX went live with a ‘push to figshare‘ option.

The writeLaTeX team aim to make the power of LaTeX accessible to all scientists & technical writers, at all stages of their career.

“This is part of our drive to help improve open science and open access to research”.

You'll need to sign in to figshare (or create an account for free if you don't already have one). Once you've connected your writeLaTeX account to your figshare account, you can publish your documents on figshare with one click; they'll stay private on figshare until you choose to make them public. Then you can start getting credit for all your hours of work, and help others discover you and your research.

The writeLaTeX team share much of the ethos of figshare, and like figshare it was started by academics trying to fix a problem they were facing. By creating documents in the cloud on writeLaTeX and seamlessly making them citable, sharable and discoverable on figshare, the whole academic publication process can be completed in a browser. Both services are free and can help any academic create and share their research in a way which was not previously achievable.

As always, feedback, comments, suggestions and ideas are welcomed. Please get in touch at info@figshare.com or via twitter, facebook or google+.
