Obesity is a multifactorial disease associated with oxidative stress and chronic inflammation and characterized by an excessive accumulation of fat in adipose tissue. Excessive H2O2 levels are degraded by catalase, whose activity is decreased in obesity. We investigated the effects of inhibition of catalase activity by 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole (3-AT) on the metabolism and inflammation of human differentiated adipocytes.
