Sets of 60 2D outline coordinates from:
1) 376 handaxes from Boxgrove, UK, digitized by Radu Iovita from photographs taken in 2009 with the permission of the British Museum (Franks House, London) and of the original excavators and curators, and previously used in Iovita and McPherron (2011, http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s10816-016-9297-8)
2) 58 handaxes from La Noira, France, digitized by Radu Iovita from photographs taken in 2012 with the permission of the excavators and curators in Paris at the Institut de Paléontologie Humaine (contact: Marie-Hélène Moncel, moncel@mnhn.fr).

The files are provided in two formats: 1) in xyz format as required by the CSM program of Tuvi-Arad et al. (http://csm.huji.ac.il/new) and 2) as outline (.out) objects which can be imported directly into the R programming environment (using the command read.RDS) and manipulated with the Momocs package of Bonhomme et al., 2014: https://www.jstatsoft.org/article/view/v056i13/v56i13.pdf). The data frame of associated technological attributes collected by Marie-Hélène Moncel on the handaxes is attached to this file and accessible as $fac (e.g., handaxes_top_view.out$fac).

Specimen numbers were not uniformly available for the Boxgrove handaxes, so the references are to image file numbers. The IDs for the La Noira handaxes reflect actual catalog numbers.
