modified on 2024-11-21, 06:56 <p dir="ltr">The main driver for this survey project was to update and refresh Springer Nature's last comprehensive global survey on researchers’ use of social media, which was conducted in 2019. </p><p dir="ltr">This survey focuses on researchers' discovery of research content and news, as well as communications and promotion of research content. </p><p dir="ltr">There have also been well-documented changes in the social media landscape. Perhaps the most notable are developments at Twitter, now X, which were reported as <a href="https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-023-02554-0" target="_blank">“</a><a href="https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-023-02554-0" target="_blank"><u>seeding angst and uncertainty</u></a><u>”</u> amongst researchers in a 2023 Nature survey targeting existing Twitter users.</p><p dir="ltr">This survey was ambitious, as it tried to cover a huge range of questions Springer Nature has about social media in the context of researchers and their research. </p><p dir="ltr">Authored by Kunyao Zhu and Farah Aldabbagh.</p>
