Assessing attitudes towards wood in the context of family habits

Published on by István Dr. Fekete
To clarify the question about attitude towards trees and wood, we conducted a county-wide statistically representative online questionnaire survey in Hungary with 430 primary and secondary school participants in schools of different types of municipalities. We aimed at finding out how the upcoming generation currently views the use of wood and wood materials, and as to whether they would be willing to consciously use wood materials in the future. Results show that students who have trees in their families show significantly higher scores on the cognitive, affective, and conative domains of attitude towards trees and wood compared to students who do not have trees. Disclaimer: This project was the PhD project of Jutka Nmarné Kendöl. She had compiled the questionnaire and collected the data. Hence, she is the owner of the dataset. István Fekete performed the statistical analyses.
