Ancient Plasmodium genomes shed light on the history of human malaria

Published on by Megan Michel

Nuclear genotype data in eigenstrat format for modern and ancient P. falciparum and P. vivax strains reported and/or analzyed in the following publication: Ancient Plasmodium genomes shed light on the history of human malaria.

1. The P. vivax dataset includes 23 newly-reported ancient strains and 906 comparative modern strains genotyped at 419,387 high-quality biallelic segregating SNP positions. Data from the modern P. vivax strains analyzed here were obtained from the Pv4 data release of the MalariaGEN P. vivax Genome Variation project (ftp://ngs.sanger.ac.uk/production/malaria/Resource/30).

2. The P. falciparum dataset includes 9 newly-reported ancient strains and 1,227 comparative modern strains genotyped at 106,179 high-quality biallelic segregating SNP positions. Data from modern P. falciparum strains analyzed here were obtained from the Pf6 data release of the MalariaGEN P. falciparum Community Project (ftp://ngs.sanger.ac.uk/production/malaria/pfcommunityproject/Pf6/).
