L8 is the maximum adult total length (in cm) and N is the total abundance observed on the Great Barrier Reef across all reefs and years. ‘Reef size’ indicates the effect (positive or negative, i.e., coefficient sign) of reef size on the species’ abundance, assessed using a permutational multivariate analysis of variance (see text for details).
