Dataset of classified volcanic ash particle images and features

This dataset contains the particle features and classified image data from 11,808 volcanic ash particles from 53 samples across 13 different volcanoes. The collection comprises basaltic to rhyolitic magmas, and a range of activity types, including phreatic eruptions, lava dome explosions, basaltic lava fountaining, and Plinian to Sub-plinian eruptions. The dataset also includes samples that have been generated experimentally by crushing pyroclastic material and then altered under a range of specific conditions of temperature and oxygen fugacity.
