The Lrig1-T2A-iCreERT2 line 1c2 was generated first before the line 2f1. At first, I didn't know about the recessive lethality problem in the line 1c2 (link). Thus, all experiments were done with the line 1c2. Once I found out about the line 1c2 problem after several generations of backcross to the C57BL/6J background, I also started backcrossing the line 2f1 (link). In the meantime, experiments were done with the line 1c2. Thus, almost all experiments in Nam and Capecchi, 2020 were done with the line 1c2. When the line 2f1 was sufficiently backcrossed (N6), the line 1c2 was discontinued at once, and all experiments were done with the line 2f1 from then on. Some experiments done with the line 1c2 were repeated with the line 2f1 to ensure that this second line behaved the same as the first line. It did (link). Basically, the line 2f1 labels the same cells as the line 1c2, without the recessive lethal mutation in the genetic background. All experiments in Nam and Capecchi, 2023 were done with the line 2f1.

The line 2f1 mice are available from the MMRRC (link).
